Sketchbook: playing with type layering

I’m trying to brainstorm logo ideas as part of my self-branding. Here I played with some colors and layering in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I like the last one the most. it reminds me of some illustrations in vintage cookbooks that I really enjoy.
